Free trial
New accounts get 30 days free, starting when you first sign in with SmartThings. No payment card is needed. After that, Lock Chimp is £59 per listing per year or £5.99 a month in the UK ($79 a year or $7.99 a month in the US). You will never be charged unless you choose the paid plan and complete Stripe Checkout yourself.
Lock Chimp is not affiliated with Samsung, SmartThings, Yale or RBoy.
The service
LockChimp schedules, updates and removes keypad codes through SmartThings. It depends on SmartThings, your hub, your lock, its driver, internet connectivity and the lock battery. Those systems can delay, reject or misreport a command.
You must keep a tested backup entry method, such as a physical key or lockbox. Do not rely on LockChimp as the only way into a property.
Your responsibilities
- Use LockChimp only with locks and SmartThings accounts you are authorised to manage.
- Check important codes before a guest or visitor depends on them.
- Keep backup access available and respond promptly to warnings.
- Use lawful names, contact details and access records, and tell guests how their data is used where required.
- Do not attempt to bypass security, overload the service or use it for unlawful access.
Charges
After the free trial, Lock Chimp is £59 per listing per year or £5.99 a month in the UK ($79 a year or $7.99 a month in the US). You choose yearly or monthly when you pay. If you pay during your free trial, the first payment is taken when the trial ends. With less than two days of the trial left, it is taken straight away. Extra doors on the same listing are included. You will not be charged unless you choose the paid plan and complete Stripe Checkout yourself. Stripe emails a receipt (and later invoices) to the address used at checkout.
If your trial ends and you have not added payment, Lock Chimp stops making scheduled changes to your locks. The same happens if a paid plan ends or a payment fails. While automation is off:
- It does not put new codes on the lock.
- It does not remove guest codes at check-out. Codes already on the lock stay active, and securing the property is your responsibility.
- It does not change weekly or permanent codes that are due to change.
Your schedules stay saved. If you have added an email address, Lock Chimp emails you once for each change that was due but not made. You cannot add or edit codes, but you can still delete a code in Lock Chimp (or remove it in your lock app or at the lock), view your host backup code, download your data, disconnect SmartThings and delete your account.
Add payment to turn automation back on. Overdue removals then run straight away, codes for stays that are still current are added, and codes for stays that have already ended are not added.
Cancellation and refunds
Cancel in Settings through the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. You keep paid access until then.
If you cancel within 14 days of first payment and have not used LockChimp to put a code on a lock during that paid period, email Robert Welsh for a full refund. After that, or if a code was programmed, payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
Warnings and external changes
LockChimp may report that SmartThings differs from a schedule. It will warn rather than automatically overwrite a change made outside LockChimp. A warning is not proof that the lock itself has accepted or rejected a code.
Ending use
You can disconnect SmartThings or delete your account in Settings. LockChimp blocks disconnection while any current or future schedule remains. You may still delete the account while a PIN is live, but LockChimp will stop monitoring that PIN and will never remove it. The PIN may remain usable on the physical lock until you remove it in SmartThings or at the lock.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to that, LockChimp is not suitable as the sole access-control mechanism, and we are not responsible for losses caused by SmartThings, lock hardware, drivers, connectivity, batteries, inaccurate information you provide, or failure to maintain backup access.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, mandatory rights and local court protections still apply.
